A new Blog and New Beginning

Hi Folks,

This new blog has come about because of getting ready to open my Etsy shop.

When I first posted about my shop, in FlowerLady's Musings, it was in this post A New Blog in August of last year. A lady posted to me telling me to quit using the name Plum Cottage ASAP. She had no way for me to contact her, and she did not answer my response to her.

That depressed me to say the least, and I did not open my shop for business at that time.

Now that I am getting ready to open shop, we thought of changing the name. Before doing that though I did a search this morning and found a lady in Etsy, as The Plum Cottage. Why on earth Etsy didn't flag this is amazing, because I would not have chosen my name in the first place if I had known this other shop was there. I don't know if she is the lady who posted to me or not. But, so as not to cause conflict I'm not going to be doing business as Plum Cottage Creations. That is kind of sad for me, as I loved the shop name. But, it wasn't meant to be and something even better is going to be.

So, here we are with a new beginning for shop and a blog. It is going to be Us, DH and myself as, ArtistikUs ElastikUs. The name is the one we had when we had our antique shop many years ago. We did a search this morning and found it nowhere else and it was accepted by blogger and by Etsy. We will be selling some vintage, some engravings, watercolors, other artwork and things we've collected through the years, as well as handmade items.

We worked on the logo and banner this morning and like what we came up with. The painting is one in our personal collection.

I want to thank all of you who have visited and left your kind comments of encouragement. We are looking forward to this new little adventure in our life together.

Sincerely,

It is what you do with what happens to you."

  2. Flowerlady: Congratulations for the new blog! I love the header! Just curious, is this a water color painting? The couples in the paiting looks like Chinese people to me :) In case you did not know. I am a Chinese originally, although now I have become US citizen. My husband and I have been in US for almost 16 years now. We came as students to get our master degrees in Engineering.

  3. How exciting. I look forward to seeing your shop. I'm sorry about the name, but those things happen on line. Maybe it wasn't the right time. I hope you do well. Linda

  4. Congratulations on your new shop and blog. I know it is hard to change names when it has personal meaning to you, but change is good--it makes us grow. I can't wait to see your new shop!

  8. Good morning Folks ~ Thank you all for visiting and your kind words of encouragement and well wishes for our new venture.

Kit ~ Glad you liked the name. When we had our antique shop many years ago, we thought of this name because, we did not want to sell any one period of antiques or collectibles. It's nice to bring it back once again.

Ami ~ It's a little oil painting on canvas. There is Spanish writing on the back label and we believe it is South American. We love this painting. I can see how you would think it might be Chinese. Congratulations to you and your DH for your US citizenship and your degrees in engineering. I just love your gardens, and your excitement in them inspires me.

    Jim ~ Thanks for visiting.

Linda ~ We don't know why things work out the way they do sometimes, we just have to go with the flow, and look for the good. We are excited about this new venture.

Morning Glories ~ Yes, change can be good and does help us to grow.

Sandra ~ It is too bad she couldn't have said it nicer, maybe she was having a bad hair day. We all have good and bad days, and sometimes don't act as we should.

Jenni ~ Thanks for your help with questions I had about Etsy. May your shop continue to do well.

Glenda ~ Thanks. I am loving the new name more, as it was already a part of us many years ago.

Thanks again everyone for your encouraging support.
