What's next?

Well, I'm about to start on my next needlework of another bird. This one is a female Chestnut sided Warbler. She is a little sweetie. The photo is one taken by Carol at Flower Hill Farm. She has graciously given permission to use her photo for inspiration.

Birds just speak to me. They seem so carefree and happy. They sing and go about their daily business.

I hope to be doing more birds, butterflies too, to sell in my little Etsy shop. I love embroidering. These are all miniature in size, and all hand done.

My first little bird flew his tropical nest and is now residing in the mountains of NC. He will be framed in an antique frame by the new owner and hung with a collection of antique postcards of birds. I think that is really neat.

Now I'm intimidated. It always happens when I first start out on a piece.

I will be keeping track of my time too, once the needle is put to the material. I didn't do that with several pieces that I have already done that I posted pictures of, and that's why I have not put them up for sale.

Our first item is up on Etsy. Click on bookmark to take you there. It is done in blues. I've still got to get the hang of taking pictures for this so that I have truer colors showing.

The rhinestone is a 'dewdrop'. My late FIL called me 'DewDrop', and I thought they would add a nice touch to the flowers.

Good morning Everyone ~ First of all I want to say a heartfelt thank you for all of your wonderful encouraging posts and well wishes. Both of us are excited about this new adventure in our life. I will be posting a link in a day or two to our Etsy shop, for anyone who wishes to visit.

I've got my next little piece of embroidery drawn out out fabric, but that is as far as I've gotten. Mr. ElastikUs rigged up and old magnifying glass with light (that was his Dad's), and that is going to be so great for working with fine threads and beads. I look forward to starting the next project soon.

A new Blog and New Beginning

Hi Folks,

This new blog has come about because of getting ready to open my Etsy shop.

When I first posted about my shop, in FlowerLady's Musings, it was in this post A New Blog in August of last year. A lady posted to me telling me to quit using the name Plum Cottage ASAP. She had no way for me to contact her, and she did not answer my response to her.

That depressed me to say the least, and I did not open my shop for business at that time.

Now that I am getting ready to open shop, we thought of changing the name. Before doing that though I did a search this morning and found a lady in Etsy, as The Plum Cottage. Why on earth Etsy didn't flag this is amazing, because I would not have chosen my name in the first place if I had known this other shop was there. I don't know if she is the lady who posted to me or not. But, so as not to cause conflict I'm not going to be doing business as Plum Cottage Creations. That is kind of sad for me, as I loved the shop name. But, it wasn't meant to be and something even better is going to be.

So, here we are with a new beginning for shop and a blog. It is going to be Us, DH and myself as, ArtistikUs ElastikUs. The name is the one we had when we had our antique shop many years ago. We did a search this morning and found it nowhere else and it was accepted by blogger and by Etsy. We will be selling some vintage, some engravings, watercolors, other artwork and things we've collected through the years, as well as handmade items.

We worked on the logo and banner this morning and like what we came up with. The painting is one in our personal collection.

I want to thank all of you who have visited and left your kind comments of encouragement. We are looking forward to this new little adventure in our life together.
